Linking Bank Transactions to Your Costs in Gekko

To link your bank transactions to your costs, you first need to connect your bank account. With the automatic PSD2 bank connection, this process is now very easy. You no longer have to manually upload your files—everything happens automatically. After that, you only need to link them.

Follow the steps below to link your costs to your bank transactions:


Linking Business Costs to Existing Costs in Gekko

  • Click the bank transaction you want to link to your expenses.
  • Link the bank transaction to an existing cost by checking the suggestions that are already given. 
  • After clicking on a suggestion your bank transaction will be linked immediately. 
  • You can skip step 4. The transaction will be connected.


Linking Business Expenses to New Costs

  • Click on +Create new cost.
  • The description and total amount, including VAT, will be automatically filled in. You can adjust them if needed.
  • Calculate the VAT amount by clicking on the calculator (select 21% or 9%).
  • Pick a costs category.
  • Add a file for the the receipt/invoice.
  • Click 'Create cost' in the bottom right corner.
  • Your bank transaction is now linked to your cost. Click on 'Close'.


Labeling Private Transactions 

Do your bank transactions include private transactions? Follow these steps:


In the top left corner, select whether the transaction is Business or Private. 



You should only select Private for personal withdrawals or when making a private purchase from your business account. Private transactions will not be included in your business income, and they will no longer be marked as "Not assigned".
